It happened to me after losing everything in Hurricane Katrina. Someone stole my identity to claim my emergency relief money.

This happend to me for two years with my son one when he was alive and one when he was dead. It is maddening that people steal sick kids SSNs. The first year I filed taxes without him I just knew someone out there was now using his SSN scott-free unless the death certificate got matched up or something. I went to the local tax office with all the proof that he was mine but they won’t do anything about it. It made me just sick. I am so sorry you are dealing with this too, and at the holidays.

Then i remembered the year i mistyped my son’s SSN on tax form. . . got it fixed after filing. . . so i hope and pray this is an innocent slip up and not what it looks like!

Karma is a bitch I don’t want to take on…she will come back to haunt who ever did this to you! I am so sorry you have to go through this, and I wish I had some words of wisdom to share. Just know you are loved!
I just wanted to share with you this article about a man committing just this crime. He is in NJ and I am convinced this is who stole me son’s since he was treated in New York City (though we live in CO). Who knows though because my son was also treated at Denver Children’s and also Colorado Springs

This just turns my stomach. Not only because it makes us painfully aware of the scum that exists amung us, but because you have been through enough and jerks like this are just making you go through so much more. I am a firm believer in karma and know this person will have it come around 10 fold.
