For the Greater Good

Who is this Motley Crew?

They are the ring leaders of the Renaissance ELOB, Caps for Cancer fundraiser.
After hearing about the cool kids at Byers Elementary School and their mad fundraising skills, (THANKS BYERS!!!) Spencer and Axel decided to take this great idea to their school.
On the last day of classes, our Renaissance family raised $756.74 for the families on the 7th floor at
The Children’s Hospital.  We will be delivering gift cards for the hospital cafeteria, in hopes of filling the bellies and weary souls of dads and moms, brothers and sisters, and of course, the kiddos fighting cancer.
I’m so proud of these kids and the generosity of our community.  A thousand thanks to all my girls for helping out.  Renaissance Rocks!
Here is another Awesome opportunity to help out the Children’s Hospital Oncology floor in Tuesday’s honor.  Check out Miles For Tuesday.  The Oncology floor is always filled to capacity.  New children diagnosed all the time.  Children still in the fight, recently relapsed and, occasionally, thank God, finishing up their last week of treatment.  (YEA ELLIE!!!!!!!!!!)  They need our help.
Bill and Jen, we can’t thank you enough.  Charley works for the greatest people and the greatest company around.  We love you guys!
Our little girl continues to inspire people for the greater good.  What an honor.  Man, I miss her.

    How very cool! You must be so proud of them!!! My 4 year old daughter always quotes a line from a Barbie Thumbalina movie (of all things!)"Even the smallest people can make a big difference". I'd say that is true of your sweet son's and of your sweet Tuesday. She continues to inspire and change this world, one person at a time… I know she has for me. Not a day goes by that I do not think of her and thank God that he blessed this earth with her… Love to you and your family…

  7. Jenn H says:

    That's awesome what they were able to do. The teaming up for a marathon and having donations go to the hospital is a great idea! Much love.

  8. Grannysaurus says:

    Gift cards for the hospital cafetetia for families of sick kids – what a great idea! I'm storing that one up for the next time someone at church says "Who will we fundraise for this time?" In Australia the cancer council recently had Australia's Biggest Morning Tea. Hosts register and then send out invitations to anyone and everyone to come and have a cuppa and make a donation. It grows bigger every year because it is so much fun while doing something worthwhile.

  9. Terri says:

  17. Tamara aka Cheapskate Mom says:

    Wow! Kids are so amazing! They have such loving and giving hearts when they are touched by something special. Tuesday is such a driving force for many people. she has brought out awareness in my children's eyes. I've been going to Children's a lot lately. Thank goodness it is not for something cancer related. Each time I go there, I think of Tuesday and children like her. I want so badly to do something for the children and families that are enduring this awful disease. Your children are an inspiration! I'll have to look into Hats For Cancer and learn more about this cause.

    Bless you. Sending you and your family a Mile-Wide hug!

  18. Penny says:

    It always amazes me when people turn their own grief towards helping others. It's a beautiful thing you're doing! Your daughter blessed and affected a lot of people in her short life. So did you and Charley by sharing her. Thank you.
    Watching others sharing their children's stories on a St. Jude telethon 17 years ago, inspired me to become a Partner in Hope and I still am. When my husband was faced with losing a 28 year long job, we cut out cable and other non-necessities. St. Jude was one of two things we agreed we would NOT cut out, that and Compassion. We felt strongly that we couldn't let those children and parents down. Less than one year after I made that St. Jude pledge, my 16 month old had a bone marrow biopsy testing for leukemia. Thank God it wasn't, it was a different blood disorder, but if it had been cancer I'm thankful I would have had somewhere to take her. God bless you, Charley, and your other babies.

    What a wonderful thing to do!
    So thankful for the assurance we have in Christ! Praying!
    1 John 1:1-4 That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the Word of life; (For the life was manifested, and we have seen it, and bear witness, and shew unto you that eternal life, which was with the Father, and was manifested unto us;) That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ. And these things write we unto you, that your joy may be full.

    Way to go boys ( you too Piper)! I know Tuesday is looking down on you and smiling because of the wonderful events and blessing being done in her name. We are so proud of all of you.We love all of you and can't wait to see you. Are all of you going to be a part of Miles for Tuesday? Will you be walking? Tuesday was a small person in stature but had a heart as big as the world…she touched so many and continues to touch us all. We miss her so very much.

  26. Rach De La Rosa says:

    I stumbled across your blog from another blog and once I began reading, I couldn't stop. I almost feel intrusive as I read through your words of pain. I'm a mother of 3 so while I don't truly know your pain, I can certainly understand it. I will pray that God makes each day just a little easier for you and your fam to get through. Thank you for sharing this beautifully painful life of yours and for sharing Tuesday with the rest of us. She is unbelievably beautiful, as are the rest of your children. I am so moved by your words and I don't think I will ever be the same. Again, thank you for sharing this with the rest of us.
    ps. I think God hurts along with you too but I do believe Tuesday is right there with Him, holding His hand as they gaze down upon your family with loving eyes

    Great minds must think alike – we are hoping to be able to take gas cards up to the Oncology floor from some of our fundraising efforts this year!! Amazing how these things (food and gas) really help out the families that are there – unfortunately, we both know that first hand!! It's so cool that you are continuing to press forward in Tuesdays name – and what an awesome fundraiser!!
    Still praying, still loving and missing you and still sending hugs to you!!

    Know that your family is always in my thoughts and prayers!
    Psalms 18:28-30 For thou wilt light my candle: the LORD my God will enlighten my darkness. For by thee I have run through a troop; and by my God have I leaped over a wall. As for God, his way is perfect: the word of the LORD is tried: he is a buckler to all those that trust in him.

    Thankful that I can be here praying for you.

    I rest on His unchanging grace;

    you are on my mind tonight… i have just been going through your blog, looking at pictures of your sweet Tuesday, reading your words and crying… It breaks my heart every time I think of her to know she is not with you…

    Know that I'm continuing to pray here in Seattle!

    His oath, His covenant, and blood
    Support me in the whelming flood;

    He then is all my Hope and Stay.
