Back in the Saddle again

Back in the saddle again.
Ahhhh.  This is good.  Not that we don’t love Asheville (we do), and not that we over stayed our welcome, (we did) but this, right here, in this gigantic copilots seat, is where I want to be.  We are heading down a blue highway to Gainsville.  We are talking about Brittney, one of Tuesday’s very first and most beloved night nurses.  She is from here and would wear her Gators scrubs and talk in a sweet, soothing voice, and make our unbearable nights a bit bearable.  She came on her day off, to sit with us and cry with us, on the day that we learned Tuesday would go home to, Ultimately, go Home.  Even 1,800 miles from home, everything reminds me of Tuesday
We stayed too long in Asheville.  Not that we don’t love Asheville (we do), but because we had some break issues, that apparently, because of the GM bailout and the little guy and antifreeze in the break fluid and The South and a few other uncontrollable things, we added 2 extra weeks to our stay.  Although the stay was too long, it was also a good break.  The kids got a grandparent fix, from both sides, no less, and Charley and I got in a few dates with out them.  (the kids and the grandparents) Piper had a week of leading around her now 2 year old cousin.  It pains us to see how desperate she is for that little girl play.
We also had a couple weeks in a row to check out a church that was mentioned to me in a comment on this blog.  If we lived there, we would go back again, and again and again, and probably wind up in some sort of sort of theater production and mission trip or the band, and all of it, because we really liked it there.  If you are in Asheville and you like to go to church in a psudo-famous night club, and you love Jesus, but are not so hip on religion or pomp and circumstance, this is the place for you.  I met a follower, of both Jesus and my blog, and I in no way am lumping those two together, in the bathroom while our respective daughters did their thing.
To hear a stranger speak Tuesday’s name and to witness the sadness in her eyes.  I wish it happened more.
C, C and C, Thank you for the heads up.  It was lovely meeting you and the Highland Community.)
but I digress….
Getting back in the RV was pretty seamless this time.  We’ve got our spots and know our routine.  Even the dog settled right in.  We are all happy to be heading south.  Not that we didn’t like the North (we did), but it’s been cold and we need warm.

Know that you’re in my thoughts and prayers!
Isaiah 43:1-3a But now thus saith the LORD that created thee, O Jacob, and he that formed thee, O Israel, Fear not: for I have redeemed thee, I have called thee by thy name; thou art mine. When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee. For I am the LORD thy God, the Holy One of Israel, thy Saviour…

So glad to hear from you. I think of your Tuesday so much. We see a commercial on TV or we will be out at the mall and see a little girl around your twins age and I think of her. Awh….you didn’t come North enough =) We wanted to see you in Detroit suburbs – lol. I like your take on “religion”. I love Jesus as well and have been burnt out on a few churches. I will check out the church you talk about. Thanks.

  14. Everytime I think of precious Tuesday I have pain and tears in my eyes. I only knew her through words and photos, but I loved her. I pray for you continually and KNOW that God is bigger than this. And as I say this, know that I know you know this already. Just imagine the people who do not have Jesus in their lives. Imagine what their lives will bring when they dont get to spend eternity withtheir loved once. YOU GET TO. Eternity is forver and that forever means wtih Tuesday, with Piper, with your precious family. Piper gets to spend forever with her twin, and you get to watch FOREVER as they dance together and have little girl time FOREVER. the hard part is getting to the forever part. But in the big picture, forever is right around the corner and forever never ends. Hang in there. He’ll bring you through this… we are all praying for Jesus to come SOON. You are always in my prayers adn I will never forget the impact precious Tuesday had on my life…. FOREVER.

What a tremendous comfort we have in the wounds of Jesus! Praying!
Isaiah 49:13-16a Sing, O heavens; and be joyful, O earth; and break forth into singing, O mountains: for the LORD hath comforted his people, and will have mercy upon his afflicted. But Zion said, The LORD hath forsaken me, and my Lord hath forgotten me. Can a woman forget her sucking child, that she should not have compassion on the son of her womb? yea, they may forget, yet will I not forget thee. Behold, I have graven thee upon the palms of my hands…

  17. Carol in NC says:

Prayed for you guys a lot yesterday (Monday) and though I didn’t hear anything for you particularly earth shattering I do have a good joke from the joke book on our table:

Three Eskimos were discussing how cold it was. One said, “I bet my igloo is colder than yours and I’ll prove it.” So they went to his igloo and he spat into the air. Before it could reach the ground it froze, hit the floor and shattered. The second Eskimo said. “That’s nothing. Come to my igloo and I show you cold.” He took a bucket of water, threw it into the air and it froze into a thousand ice cubes before the drops came down. The third Eskimo said, “I have you both beat.” They went to his igloo and he went over to the bed, pulled back the furs and very carefully took his knife and scraped up a little brown spot. He carried it on the tip of his knife over to the fire and when he held it over the heat it went, “phhtttttt”.

  18. Lurenda says:

Tuesday. It’s Tuesday. I’m still praying on Tuesday, for her family (that be you, or should I say ya’all?) I’m glad that you had a wonderful nurse during that horrible time.

Since miscarrying in October, I’ve found that many many many many things remind me of my baby and I only knew him for a few months. Good Lord, the memories and reminders you must have of your dear little one. I’ve wondered how you are doing at this time of year that is so beautiful, yet so difficult for those who have lost loved ones. God bless you!

Psalm 20:5-7 We will rejoice in thy salvation, and in the name of our God we will set up our banners: the LORD fulfil all thy petitions. Now know I that the LORD saveth his anointed; he will hear him from his holy heaven with the saving strength of his right hand. Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the name of the LORD our God.

  28. Happy New Year! I am working on improving my blogroll- Cancer Blogs – at Being Cancer Network. One of the things I want to do is to expand the 700 blog entries. Please let me know your specific cancer diagnosis – the medical term. Also the year you were diagnosed and anything else you think is relevant for the listing, like a book you have written or if you had a transplant.. Please include the name of your blog in the email so I can put the information in the correct listing.

This has been a very popular (over 7500 visits) and valuable resource for folks. It allows people to view what others with a similar diagnoses have gone through. And it brings additional attention and traffic to survivor’s blogs. It is helping to build a strong, vibrant community of survivors.

Please see my January 10 post – New Year’s New Face – for additional changes in the website. WIshing you a happy and healthy new year.
