A Big Week for Our Big Guy

How can you be so little and so big all at the same time? Spencer tuned 7 this week. I swear I was just pregnant with him.

On Wednesday, he went snow boarding at Eldora with his school. I was really excited for him because I have great memories of ski club trips. But I was in middle school and he’s only in 1st grade. I knew he would be well supervised, but it was just a little scary letting him go so far from home with out us. Charley took him to school at 6:00 that morning so I didn’t see him leave. The kid that came home from the hill was not the kid I tucked in to bed the night before. This was some sort of impostor. A cool kid. A big kid. A kid with a missing front tooth and a cute lisp. He was so excited to tell us all about the bus they took with a toilet and they got to watch movies and it was really cool and why can’t he take a bus like that to school and did he tell us that it had a toilet and it was so much fun and can he go again but he doesn’t really want to go again because the boots hurt his feet and can he get his own snowboard and when are he and Hayden going to go snowboarding?

The tooth that he lost snowboarding but really lost eating an apple on the way up.

Poor kid. He lost his tooth that morning, managed to keep it safe all day long and then dropped it when he went to show it to me that night. I think it is still buried somewhere in my living room carpet. So to date, we’ve got three teeth lost and only one has made it under his pillow. (he swallowed that last one) No worries, he just left the tooth fairy a very cute note explaining the situation and asking if she would still leave him some money, even if she can’t find the tooth in the carpet. She obliged. A nice shiny Sacajawea. So what is the going rate for the tooth fairy in your house?

Happy Birthday, Bug! I love you!

The going rate for the tooth fairy in our house is about .50 cents unless it’s a first tooth and then maybe $5.00
If however, .50 cents cant be scrounged from our pocket or under a couch cushion…we may have to resort to leaving a dollar…but I try not to. LOL
That ski trip sounds like so much fun. I wish the schools here would do something like that!
    love,
    ang

You’re making this hormonal pregnant woman all teary eyed reading how he’s growing up. I bawled for weeks before Nathaniel turned 5 and now I am dreading ski trips alone, lol!

Great pictures, what a handsome “big kid”. The ski trip sounds like so much fun, what a great experience for him! No tooth fairy visits yet for us, but I imagine it will be about the same, .50 or 1.00.

The going rate for a tooth fairy at our house is $2 … the damn teeth are worth more than gold. The thing is though that the tooth fairy isn’t allowed to take teeth here, Jay had a very strict rule from the moment he lost his first one that mummy has to keep all the teeth and the thought of the tooth fairy taking them made him cry so he knows mummy pays, so he really makes me ‘pay’ LOL. Hoping the babies won’t do that to me and I can tell Jay to zip it and not tell them how much he was paid 🙂

Spencer is growing up so much. He is a totally cool kid

Wow! Swallowing a baby tooth with nary
    a word to Grammy.

    Sigh!

Proud of you Master Spence, for keeping
    your cool.

Great writing; this blog needs to go into the Smithsonian Archives!!! It is also picture perfect.

With regard to that tooth’s value, you need to account for the inflation due to the sub-prime debacle, factor in the long term Iraq war cost on heath related issues and integrate the Tooth Fairy’s increased gas cost (she drives a diesel). I estimate the value of that tooth at about $27,000, give or take a few government programs.

Meanwhile, Spencer is too cool for words. I think you should keep him.

Big boy, is so sad to know that they are growing up and that some day they will not need us anymore.

This was such a sweet post! It’s amazing how fast it all goes…

We do a dollar. It’s easy to slide under the pillow! LOL Kenzie swallowed one of her teeth, but her daddy told her the tooth fairy couldn’t get into her belly. Savanna lost her first one down the bathtub drain, but got paid anyways, cuz hello! It was her first one! LOL Sounds like Spence had a good time, and they do grow overnight.

I like the dollar coin idea. Stealing it. I remember getting a quarter. man- inflation has even hit the tooth fairy.
